Tom Berg was born and raised in Park Ridge, Illinois, and started playing saxophone at the age of 10.  He graduated from Maine South High School in 2009 while being an active participant in the Midwest Young Artists jazz program from 2007-2009, directed by Nic Meyer.  He also studied privately with saxophonist Nick Moran and was chosen to participate in two IMEA all-district bands.  He won the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award his senior year at Maine South.  

Tom Berg has just completed his bachelor's degree in music at the University of North Texas, majoring in Jazz Arranging.  During his time at UNT he has played in the Four O'Clock Lab Band, Latin

Jazz Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Jazz Forum groups and has prepared a recital of original music, which can be found here.
